Network Emulators

Network Emulators enable software developers and network engineers to determine how their products or services would perform under various network conditions such as bandwidth, latency, congestion, etc.

Network Emulators create these network conditions by transparently capturing and processing the data packets. They can be used for any network protocol (IP, IPX, AppleTalk, etc.). Since they operate at Ethernet layer they do not require any configuration change on networks or servers.

Traffic Generators

Traffic Generators are unique test equipment for proactive and effective tests. Their patent-pending Capture and Replay ™ feature can be used to capture high speed real-time data such as VoIP or IPTV streams without affecting the quality. Captured packets can be replayed at the same characteristics or at different speeds or with different content. Alternatively, PCAP formatted packets can be transferred to Network Analyzers for further analysis or to another Traffic Generator for replaying at another location.

Simena's Traffic Generators also provide true gigabit wire speed (1.4 million pps per port) and controllable Traffic Injector ™. They can easily saturate gigabit Ethernet connections with traffic characterized by Ethernet, IPV4/IPV6 addresses, and TCP/UDP port numbers. Packet size and traffic rate can be specified in several ways. In addition, source and destination addresses can be randomized to create more realistic load effects. It also possible to specify payload for any protocol.

Simena Traffic Generators and high models of Network Emulators (NE3000 and PTC3000) are also capable of emulating BGP protocol by establishing neighbor connections to many BGP routers and sending all kinds of BGP messages. They can also be used for generating multiple stateful TCP connections.

They can also be used for RFC 2544 network measurements to measure latency, bandwidth, packet loss and other characteristics. The results are displayed in real-time in tabular format.

Traffic Generators are portable, multi-user and multi-port appliances with fiber and/or copper based gigabit interfaces. They can be either mounted on a standard 19” rack or can be used as a desktop traffic generator. They are managed by web GUI. More ...

Software Development Kit

Simena Software Development Kit (SDK) is a complete Simena system with various programming libraries and tools for developing custom test solutions.

The SDK provides the Simena Application Programming Interface (API) which is for the users to develop new applications in measurement, traffic generation, protocol emulation, monitoring and other testing areas. API has several C programming language libraries. It also provides sample source code for quick development of custom test applications, as well as detailed API documentation.
